Compadres
Norwescap’s Compadres provides access to experiences, skills, support, and guidance needed to develop the resiliency and social-emotional skills necessary to reach their highest potential for children whose parents participate in our Pathways 2 Prosperity program.
Compadres children engage in weekly interactive learning experiences including:
- STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities, which build academic engagement and orient children to living wage opportunities;
- Interactive social-emotional learning to build the children’s readiness to learn, by improving their academic performance and behavior and specific skills such as conflict resolution, creative thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication. These employability skills are the foundation necessary to successfully navigate occupational environments as adults;
- Career Corner, where children can explore careers that lead to financial stability and a life filled with opportunities;
- Peer Mentoring where trained high school and college students volunteer as mentors, modeling healthy behaviors, decision-making skills and interest in academic pursuits.
