We offer a variety of programs below that provide housing support and assistance!
Housing Support
Norwescap’s Housing Support Team helps individuals and families along the full spectrum of housing needs, from people who are at risk of experiencing homelessness to those working to purchase their first home. These are not emergency services.
Our team of Housing Specialists are here to help with services such as:
- Paying back rent, mortgage payments, and security deposits to eligible households (requirements vary)
- Rental and foreclosure counseling
- Pre-purchase homeownership counseling
- First Time Home Buyers workshops
- Referrals to housing resources

Other Programs that can provide assistance
Homelessness Prevention Rehousing Program
Provides temporary rental assistance and stabilization services to assist individuals and families living on the streets or in emergency shelters obtain permanent housing; and assistance to households in imminent risk of homelessness due to an eviction or other eligible cause.
Energy Assistance
Energy Services assists eligible individuals and families in Hunterdon, Somerset, Sussex and Warren Counties with their heating and cooling costs to reduce energy burden.
Homelessness Prevention Program
Provides up to three months of assistance to pay past due rent to households in imminent danger of eviction due to temporary financial problems beyond their control.
Emergency Food & Shelter Program
Provides meals or groceries, lodging in a shelter or hotel, one month’s rent or mortgage payment, one month’s utility bill, or equipment necessary for organizations to feed or shelter people.
Intensive Case Management
Our intensive case management and counseling services provide each of the families within our portfolio with the means to continue in their recovery process, to achieve their goals toward self-sufficiency.
Weatherization
Assist elderly, handicapped and low-income persons in weatherizing their homes, improving their heating system efficiency and conserving energy.
HUD Supportive
Helps homeless people who are sleeping in places not meant for human habitation, such as cars, parks, sidewalks, and abandoned buildings, or those who are living in transitional housing or sleeping in an emergency shelter as a primary nighttime residence.
Lead-Safe
Identify and remediate lead-based paint hazards via interim controls to prevent elevated blood lead levels in children and pregnant women.
Safe Housing for Seniors
Helps older adults with small home repairs to help ensure their health and safety. These services are free of charge and available to all adults aged 60 and over in Hunterdon, Warren, and Sussex Counties.
