Community Development

Much of Norwescap’s work is focused on serving individuals and families; but to truly accomplish our vision, we also work at the community level to ensure that people have the opportunity to succeed in their own hometowns. Through our Community Development programs, we spearhead significant neighborhood investments; support local businesses; and organize community events and initiatives that foster safe, healthy, vibrant neighborhoods where every resident and community member has a chance to participate and thrive.

(Sussex) UPDATED 10/25/2024: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids are now being accepted by Norwescap, 350 Marshall Street, Phillipsburg, New Jersey; Attention: Sean Hyland at hylands@norwescap.org by 5:00 PM (EST), Dec 2, 2024, for General Construction Management Services of an existing 1,200 sf Mixed Use property at 37 Main Street, Sussex, NJ 07461. The project will include the renovation/remodeling of three rooms on the lower level of the property intended to be upgraded into a small business / micro-enterprise incubator and support center. Alterations will include demolition, interior fit out, installation of doors, electrical, HVAC, sprinkler, plumbing, ADA upgrades, security upgrades, and flooring. Key considerations in the project will be the creation of a modern business center, complying with all Federal, State, County and Town regulations. The facility after renovation will be home to a small business / micro-enterprise incubator and support center, known as the Center for Entrepreneurship (C4E). 

It is anticipated that the start date of this project which encompasses design/permit approvals, construction, construction management and equipment installation will be January 1, 2025 with delivery date of finished space not later than July 1, 2025. (Phillipsburg) UPDATED 10/21/2024: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids are now being accepted by Norwescap, 350 Marshall Street, Phillipsburg, New Jersey Attention: Susan Ludwig at ludwigs@norwescap.org by 5:00 PM (EST), Dec 2, 2024, for General Construction Management Services of an existing 6,500 sf Mixed Use property at 371 S Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ. The project will include the renovation/alteration of an existing three-story building with a restaurant on the first floor and office space on the 2nd & 3rd floors. Alterations will include demolition, structural repairs, interior fit out, HVAC, electrical, sprinkler, plumbing, ADA upgrades, elevator installation, roofing, windows, and siding. Key considerations in the project will be the construction of a commercial restaurant, fresh food sales venue, and associated office space; complying with all Federal, State, County and Town regulations. The facility after renovation will be home to healthy food-related ventures and community development and outreach offices.

It is anticipated that the start date of this project which encompasses design/permit approvals, construction, construction management and equipment installation will be January 1, 2025 with delivery date of “Occupancy Permit” not later than December 31, 2025.
