Norwescap Family Self Sufficiency

Norwescap Family Self-Sufficiency helps families receiving Housing Choice Vouchers, or residing in certain public housing, achieve economic self-sufficiency.  Through collaborative partnerships, with several housing Authorities, Norwescap offers the community the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program, the Resident Opportunity for Self Sufficiency (ROSS) program as well as other financial literacy workshops. The goal of Norwescap Family Self-Sufficiency is to support help individuals realize their fullest potential in a demanding and competitive world.  Our expert staff members help navigate obstacles that may stand in the way of goal achievement and coordinate resources in the community for program participants. Through our programs, participants have achieved goals including expanding their education and job training, home ownership, obtained full-time employment, increased income and applied for United States Citizenship.

Morris County residents may enroll in free Planting Financial Seeds of the Future, a joint initiative with the Morris County Freeholders, focused on enhancing financial literacy. The series provides core financial literacy topics along with one-on-one mentoring to help build savings, improve credit, and develop a spending plan to create wealth and assets.  Free classes in Morris County and hosts many workshops at libraries, community and faith based organizations and other accessible locations.

Eligibility

  • To qualify for FSS you must receive a Housing Choice Voucher and be referred by the participating Housing Authority. 
  • There are no eligibility requirements for the financial literacy workshops for Morris County Residents.
