Norwescap COVID-19 Statement

Dear Norwescap Community:

I wanted to update you on Norwescap’s response to COVID-19 (coronavirus). As you know, approximately 30,000 people across five New Jersey counties rely on Norwescap each year for critical services. We are working to balance the need for the safety of our employees with the need to serve these participants. Because of this, we have been proactively monitoring the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and working to ensure that we are taking appropriate steps to protect staff and the people we serve.

From the early days of the outbreak, Norwescap has been receiving information from a variety of government and health officials, including regular updates from the New Jersey Department of Health. We have convened a COVID-19 Response Team consisting of agency leadership as well as leadership from Head Start and Children & Family Resource Services. Our team is connecting daily to ensure that we are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on mitigation and containment strategies.  At this time our focus is on reinforcing prevention strategies like social distancing, office protocols, and other mitigation efforts. We want to err on the side of being aggressive at limiting the potential spread of the disease.

Most of Norwescap’s services remain available for those who need them. As of the time of this message, the following adjustments have been made to normal operations:
As of this morning, our Women, Infants & Children (WIC) nutrition program has canceled all in-person appointments. However, WIC  is offering participants the option to receive their benefits in the mail, and nutritionists are conducting nutrition education and mid-certification evaluations over the phone. Norwescap’s Child and Family Resource Services have canceled all workshops, training and on-site visits until March 30, 2020, but continues to process childcare subsidy payments as normal.

Norwescap’s Traditions Family Success Center is temporarily closed until further notice. Staff are available via email at ringom@norwescap.org

Norwescap Day at the Envision Center in Phillipsburg has also been suspended until further notice.

Norwescap’s CLTC has officially canceled all in-person group classes moving forward until further notice. For additional information email haynesl@norwescap.org

Please follow our social media feeds for the most up-to-date information on program changes as the situation evolves.

We are grateful for all that you do to help make our communities better.

Sincerely,

Mark Valli
