Earth Day, observed annually on April 22nd, is a global event that promotes environmental awareness and encourages actions to protect our planet. For Norwescap, a community action agency dedicated to improving lives in New Jersey, Earth Day holds significant meaning and purpose. It aligns perfectly with Norwescap’s mission to empower individuals and families through community development initiatives.
The Meaning and History of Earth Day
Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, marking the beginning of the modern environmental movement. It was a response to the growing concerns about pollution, deforestation, and other environmental issues. Since then, Earth Day has grown into a global event, with millions of people participating in activities that promote environmental sustainability and conservation.
