In July, Amazing Athletes visited our Children for a fun filled afternoon. They used sports as a catalyst to meet the needs of the whole child through non-competitive, sports-based fitness classes designed to advance each child’s individual motor-skills and inspire future participation in physical activity.
Also in July we participated in a group that primary discussion was infant feeding. We shared experiences and challenges that Women face when deciding on infant feeding.

This past month the Flemington and Lambertville area CCYC members were able to lend a helping hand to partners at The United Way of Hunterdon. Volunteers from the HCCYC assisted with the “Stuff the Bus” program by collecting school supply donations at the local Clinton Wal-Mart. With the onset of the Fall season, the HCCYC is currently working on planning it’s yearly Pumpkin Decorating Class as well as a “Beyond the Braid” free hair tutorial for parents and children.

Since many factors contribute to parent leader and child resiliency, this past month the Norwescap MCCYC parent leaders enhanced our information and education regarding parenting, child development, and social and emotional learning. In addition to the Steering and Education Committees, MCCYC parent leaders addressed their cultural and linguistic needs in order to help us with a process of change through which we achieve improved parenting skills. With a team of support, we planned dates, convenient locations, times, and in the Spanish language with ACT and MOCHA staff. We attended the mutually convenient 5 sessions of Adults and Children Together (ACT) engagement and will attend more sessions. English language speakers also were given the opportunity to attend ACT engagement sessions in Mt Arlington, NJ. Parent leaders took with us practices that support us and integrated action steps we will take with the information from each engagement session. MCCYC parent and partner leaders also helped at the Farmer’s Market to recruit other people and to give food away. We also attended the Dover Backpack Giveaway Event in the Community Center and recruited people there as well. This will help us and our children achieve improved health, wellness, and quality of life, and give a chance to enjoy a joyful childhood and adulthood.
