Stories of Resilience

A “Transitions” Journey of Success

“We all go through transitions in our lives. Personally, professionally, financially and emotionally. CLTC has assisted me every step of the way. I have gained self-confidence, hope, freedom from worry, financial stability, education and a new attitude and outlook on life!  No matter how many times we fall short, it’s never too late to start over. Start new, want more for yourself, and go further. – Kathy Miller

July 14, 2023 – Life is a series of transitions, and sometimes we find ourselves at a crossroads, unsure of the path to take. In these moments, having a supportive community and resources can make all the difference. Norwescap’s Career and Life Transitions Center (CLTC) serving Hunterdon, Warren, and Somerset counties in New Jersey is one such place that offers guidance, empowerment, and opportunities for individuals seeking to navigate their professional and personal journeys. Kathy’s story exemplifies the transformative impact of Norwescap CLTC

In Her Own Words:

Not too long ago, Kathy Miller reached out to Norwescap CLTC, feeling uncertain about her future. She was yearning for some direction, financial stability, and a fulfilling career. Terry, a compassionate member of the CLTC team, listened attentively to her concerns and connected her with Chris, Coordinator for the Hunterdon County office, who would become instrumental in her transformative journey.

Finding Strength in Skills:

After assessing her skills and strengths, Kathy recognized the need to enhance her computer proficiency. Knowing that computer skills are essential in today’s job market, she enrolled in CLTC’s ‘Computer Essentials’ series, led by the knowledgeable Karen Williams. Through this program, she acquired the necessary knowledge and confidence to excel (without pun to Microsoft’s Excel) in the digital realm. The computer course covers the essentials needed to become an expert in Microsoft Office.

Discovering a New Path:

With a background in healthcare, Kathy became interested in pursuing a career as a Home Health Aide. Although her certifications had expired, she was determined to revitalize her skills and reenter the field. Collaborating with Chris, she researched educational opportunities and identified a 76-hour program at K&G Academy. Through CLTC, she successfully secured a grant to cover the cost of her education. Furthermore, Chris personally recommended her to a local healthcare company, which eagerly offered her an employment opportunity after she completed her certification.

Gratitude and Growth:

Filled with gratitude, Kathy expresses her appreciation for Norwescap CLTC and the dedicated individuals who supported her along the way. Their guidance, mentorship, educational grants, and recommendations not only equipped her with the necessary skills for a higher-paying profession but also instilled self-confidence and hope. Her journey with Norwescap CLTC granted her financial stability, an education, and a newfound attitude that propelled her toward a brighter future.

Embracing New Beginnings:

In life, we all experience setbacks and transitions. However, it’s never too late to start anew and strive for personal growth. In all of Norwescap’s programs, we encourage individuals to embrace change, envision a better future, and lay out plans and strategies to pursue their dreams.

Continued Support and Growth:

The success story doesn’t end here. With her newfound self-assurance, Kathy plans to continue her journey with Norwescap CLTC. She recognizes the center’s wealth of resources in career and personal development and is determined to professionally and personally further herself to become the best version she can be. Norwescap CLTC stands ready to support her and others on their paths to success, empowering individuals to reach their full potential.
