Full job description
The Housing Service Coordinator will play a vital role in assisting individuals and families to secure and maintain stable housing. This position involves working closely with clients to assess their housing needs, provide support in navigating housing resources, and develop strategies to prevent homelessness. The Housing Service Coordinator will also collaborate with landlords, housing authorities, and community partners to ensure clients have access to safe and affordable housing options. This role is essential in promoting long-term housing stability and improving the quality of life for those served by the organization.
· Directly supervise a team of Housing Specialists and a program Assistant to meet Norwescap customer service standards and the regulations of Norwescap-administered programs.
· Conduct home visits and or inspections in person (face-to face) for eligible clients on a weekly basis for all housing programs. Visits can be at current residence, ie: apartment, hotel, motel, and other living accommodations.
· Provide guidance on housing options, application processes, and documentation requirements.
· Assist clients in completing housing applications and securing necessary documentation.
· Assist clients in applying for housing subsidies, rental assistance, and other relevant programs.
· Maintain detailed and accurate client records, including interactions, housing applications, assessments, service plans, progress notes, case progress and correspondence.
· Identify and secure appropriate housing options for clients, including private rentals, subsidized housing, and supportive housing.
· Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, and housing authorities to expand housing opportunities for clients.
· Accompany clients to housing appointments, lease signings, and move-ins as needed.
· Collaborate with community partners, housing agencies, and other service providers to coordinate resources and services for clients.
· Prepare regular reports on client progress, case outcomes, and program effectiveness.
· Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and funding requirements.
· Monitor and follow up with clients to ensure successful placement and resolve any issues that arise.
· Assist with grant proposal and submissions.
· Stay informed about local housing policies, programs, and trends.
· Schedule and coordinate appointments and follow-up meetings for clients.
· Prepare reports and data for internal use and compliance with funding requirements.
· Must be willing to cover Norwescap’ s full five county service area if needed.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in social services, public administration, or a related field preferred.
· Experience working in housing services, social services, or a related field.
· Strong understanding of affordable housing programs and resources.
· Strong understanding of case management principles, including needs assessment, service planning, and client advocacy.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Knowledge of relevant local and federal regulations related to housing a plus.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy.
· Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management.
· Knowledge of housing programs and resources is a plus.
