COVID-19 Update

Following the Governor’s announced mandate to close public preschool programs, Norwescap will be canceling Head Start and Early Head Start classes beginning March 18th until further notice.  Norwescap Head Start and Early Head Start will provide parents and caregivers with a sample schedule, lessons, activities, websites and other resources to ensure continuity of learning.   The program will continue to operate and fulfill administrative functions during this closure.  Meanwhile, we will also utilize this time to deep clean our classrooms and other facilities.  Classes will resume once it has been determined safe to do so by state and local health officials.

Norwescap Head Start and Early Head Start food pantries will be open to the public by appointment only at the following locations:

Warren County-604 Roseberry Street
Phillipsburg, NJ 08865
908-213-3422

Morris County- 42 Peer Place
Denville, NJ 07834
973-989-0440

Norwescap has also extended hours of operation for our Children & Family Services Programs (CFRS) in Hunterdon, Warren and Sussex counties to process child care vouchers and help parents access child care services.  This will allow services to continue while promoting social distancing in the workplace.

Norwescap’s Women Infants & Children (WIC) programs remain operational but have ended face-to-face interactions indefinitely and will be mailing participants’ benefits checks and other resources to their homes.

The Norwescap Traditions Family Success Center, located within the Phillipsburg School District Special Services Building, will be closed for at least the next two weeks.  Staff are available via phone at 848-459-5882 (Marybeth), 484-951-8923 (Marigny-bilingual) & 908-339-3120 (Latiesha) or email at ringom@norwescap.org who will ensure your message gets to the right person.  This includes our Healthy Families-TIP program & Warren County Council for Young Children. Please utilize the contact information for Marybeth above for these programs as well.

CLTC group classes are currently canceled and we are no longer able to take walk-ins at this time. Our staff/ volunteers/ interns and Pathstone personnel will not be available for in-person meetings. Clients can call 908-788-1453 in Hunterdon and 908-835-2624 in Warren County.

Current computer class participants will be given online tutorials, handout materials in addition to their books to continue e-learning.  The instructor will be available via phone Tuesday and Thursday during normal class time to answer questions one-on-one; she can be reached at 908-788-1453.

EMPOWERMENT will be taught remotely and our instructor is working with participants to complete the course. Additionally, CLTC Program Coordinators will conduct client one-on-one meetings via phone while admins will conduct intake virtually.

At this time, Norwescap’s Administrative offices remain open, and we will continue to provide vital services to individuals and families in need.  However, we will continue to closely monitor all developments and adjust schedules and interactions to ensure that we are operating in a manner that is safe for program participants and staff.  We will continue to keep you up-to-date as the situation changes.

Please follow our website for the most up-to-date information regarding Norwescap services and monitor updates on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Norwescap/

I would like to thank all the people that make this work possible for the people we serve; our funders, donors, volunteers, partners, supporters, and staff.  With your continued commitment and support we will get through this crisis and emerge as an even stronger organization.

Thank you,
