ARRA Corporate Outreach

ARRA Stimulus Funding

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides funding during the current economic crisis to save and create jobs.  The ARRA funding also calls for increased transparency and accountability to taxpayers.  At NORWESCAP accountability and transparency has always been the cornerstone of our service delivery model, providing services to over 35,000 low income individuals a year with an administrative cost of less than five cents.  NORWESCAP is pleased to report that we have received funding under the ARRA to expand services and provide new services to our community in the area of economic development.

NORWESCAP designated part of the ARRA funding to outreach to the private sector to develop partnerships and also to help prepare unemployed individuals to gain employment.

Corporate Outreach

Private sector resources often do not adequately know the needs of non-profit organizations or some of the barriers that low-income individuals have when entering or returning to the workforce.  The ARRA funding has allowed NORWESCAP to create a focus on helping low income individuals to secure employment, receive job mentoring while the agency focuses on actively communicating with local employers to build relationships and to help eliminate barriers low-individuals may have as they gain employment.  NORWESCAP hopes to develop a relationship with thirty private employers.

Job Placement and Mentoring

During this current economic crisis, the labor market continued to worsen throughout the late fall and employment rates continue to rise.  In an effort to assist NORWESCAP clients that have lost their job, or are seeking employment opportunities, NORWESCAP has designated ARRA dollars to assist individuals to secure employment.  A mentoring program and resume database is in the planning process to help individuals receive a coach resulting in successful job placement and retention.
