Voices:
“I have always appreciated the benefits that WIC provides, but when my son turned 2, WIC took on new meaning. The Nutritionist performed a simple test and found that his hemoglobin level was low. She said that low hemoglobin can be caused by low levels of iron in the body. She showed me how to include foods high in iron in my son’s diet. The doctor said that my son could have had serious problems if the iron deficiency went untreated. Now I never think of my WIC appointments as routine. I think of them as necessary and life saving!”
